Eternal Security

Safe In the Arms of God

What does it mean to be safe in the arms of God?

Can the Christ follower have assurance of salvation?

Jesus promised His sheep that they would be secure in Him. He stated,

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand.

John 10:28 (CSB)

If you are a Christ follower, Jesus has purchased you with His shed blood on the cross. He paid the ransom for your freedom. He lived a perfect life in your place that you could not live. He died a death that you deserve. He accomplished what He set out to do for your salvation. His success in His mission is marked by His final words, “It is finished.” So, if you have genuinely turned from your sin and yourself, trusted Jesus for who He is and what He’s done as the only way to eternal life, and given Him control of your life, you are His child. He will not allow one of His children to be snatched from His hand. He is faithful even when we are faithless.

His faithfulness does not give us a license to sin. If that is our attitude, we do not reflect the identity of being His children. Rather, we show ourselves to be quite the opposite because we are seeking to use Him rather than surrendering to Him as Lord.

So, if He is indeed your Lord and Savior, you cannot fall out of His arms. Your salvation is based upon His work and His strength, not your own.

Can you say that you are safe in the arms of Christ? Have you surrendered your life to Him? Are you a follower of the Good Shepherd?

Jesus’ promise to His sheep is that no one can snatch them from His hand. They are safe in the arms of God.
